This 1-minute exposure was taken on December 16, 2000 at my home in Colfax, CA. The brightest "star" is Jupiter, and the next brightest is Saturn. The Pleiades (Seven Sisters, M45) can be seen just above them, while the head of Taurus, the bull, can be seen as the "V" lying on its left side directly across Jupiter from the Pleiades. The bright, reddish star on the leftmost end of the head of Taurus is Aldebaran.
This picture was made possible by my star-tracker camera mount, which I had just finished constructing from an old mechanical irrigation timer. Without it, the entire picture would have ended up as trails instead of points.
