This 30-minute exposure was taken on July 21, 2001 near Rye Patch Reservoir in Nevada. The immense number of stars (and other objects) towards the center of the Milky Way Galaxy illuminates the sky in this area, while a series of dark dust clouds obscures sections of it.

The yellow tint on the right-hand end of the photo is from yellow prison floodlights reflecting off dust in the air. The prison was about 20 miles away.
