In November 2001 I took a few sets of 3-D photos around my yard as an experement. I used two identical Canon AE-1 camera bodies, but that's where the similarity ends between the left- and right-eye photo equipment. The left-eye photos were taken with a Tokina 28-85mm zoom lens set at 50mm onto Fuji NHG II 800 speed film. The right-eye shots were done through a Canon 50mm lens onto Fuji Superia 400 speed film. While I knew that a matched pair of lenses and the same film would have yielded better results, I was just using what was available at the time. Because I was using two different speeds of film, I stopped the lenses down to different settings to make up for it on some of the pictures, and for others I used a different shutter speed on each camera. Even though the final images do vary a bit on color, contrast, etc., they are still fun for me to view in 3-D, and they have me convinced that further exploration in this area is in order!
